What is pharmacology?

Pharmacology is a branch of medicine and pharmaceutical sciences that deals with the study of drugs (any natural, artificial, or endogenous molecule that has a biochemical or physiological effect), their impact on the body, and their properties. More specifically it is the study of how chemicals interact with living organisms and what influence they have on normal and abnormal biochemical functions.

The difference between pharmacology and pharmacy.

The biggest misconception is that people think that pharmacologists and pharmacists are the same jobs, but there is a pretty big difference between these two. 

Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who specialize in medication, their job is to advise other healthcare professionals and patients on how to use and take medications, follow the effectiveness of medications, manage possible side effects, and watch if patients take medications that were prescribed to them. Pharmacists can usually be found in hospitals, community pharmacies, and medical clinics, while pharmacologists usually work in research centers, laboratories, government organizations, foundations, the drug manufacturing industry, and academic institutions.

The history of pharmacology.

The history of pharmacology can be traced back to the early days of medicine when the use of plants and other natural substances was the only available form of treatment. Over time, the science of pharmacology has evolved to encompass the study of synthetic and man-made drugs, as well as the ways in which they interact with the human body. Today, pharmacology is a vital and essential part of modern medicine, and its importance is only likely to grow in the years to come.

The BRACHES OF PHARMACOLOGY.

Pharmacology is divided into several subfields, each of which focuses on a different aspect of drug action. The major subfields of pharmacology are pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacotherapeutics.

Pharmacokinetics is the study of how drugs are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted by the body. Pharmacokinetic studies are important in the development of new drugs and in the optimization of drug therapy.

Pharmacodynamics is the study of how drugs interact with biological systems. It is concerned with the mechanisms of drug action and with the relationship between drug concentration and pharmacological response.

Pharmacotherapeutics is the study of the therapeutic use of drugs. It is concerned with the selection, dosage, and side effects of drugs.

The future of pharmacology.

The future of pharmacology is very exciting. With the advent of new technologies, we are able to develop new and better drugs to treat a variety of diseases. We are also able to develop new ways to deliver drugs to the body, making them more effective and less toxic. In addition, we are constantly learning more about how drugs work and how to optimize their effects.
